Secure your personal information
  1. Keep your logon identity, password and token secure and secret.
  2. Create your password with a combination of numbers and letters.
  3. Do not use birthday, contact number or easily guessable information as your password.
  4. Remember your password, do not write it down.
  5. Change your password immediately after receiving your password mailer for first logon or password reset.
  6. Change your password regularly.
  7. Do not use Private Banking Internet Banking password for other internet service logon.
  8. Do not disclose password to anyone or let anyone use your password and token including employee or representative of CIBHK.
  9. Beware of any suspicious email and SMS that ask for any personal information or Private Banking Internet Banking logon information.
  10. Set a password for the token.
  11. Do not provide your personal information when you are in doubt. Verify the requester's identity to confirm they are genuine.
  12. Check CIBHK's Privacy Policy Statement, Personal Information Collection Statement and Private Banking Mobile Banking User Privacy Policy through CIBHK’s website (www.cibhk.com) and/or the Mobile Banking APP before providing personal data to the Internet Banking services.
  13. Under any circumstances, CIBHK will not take the initiative to ask for your account password or SMS/email One Time Password or internet banking security code by email, letter, phone or SMS.
  14. Under any circumstances, CIBHK will not send SMS or email with hyperlinks asking you to access the Private Banking Internet Banking’s website or Mobile Banking APP through the hyperlinks.
Safely use of Private Banking Internet Banking services
  1. To ensure safety, please download the Mobile Banking APP from official CIBHK website or App Store®.
  2. When using the Internet Banking Services through CIBHK’s website, please access through the following webpage, www.cibhk.com and click “Logon Private Banking Internet Banking” button.
  3. When log on, make sure that no one is around to watch your logon identity and password on screen.
  4. Avoid using public Wi-Fi or public computer to access Private Banking Internet Banking.
  5. Accounts and other information used in Private Banking Internet Banking are under encrypted transmission. If you use the Private Banking Internet Banking through website, you can verify by checking the security padlock of the website.
  6. Do not logon Private Banking Internet Banking through any hyperlink from email, SMS or suspicious pop-up windows.
  7. When log on, verify your last logon date and time, displayed on top of the "Welcome" message in first page.
  8. Do not leave your mobile device/computer equipment unattended when using Private Banking Internet Banking services.
  9. Check your account balance and monthly client statements in regular basis and contact CIBHK immediately for any suspicious transactions or unauthorized transactions identified
  10. Once finished using Private Banking Internet Banking service, log out immediately and exit the mobile banking application or close the browser.
  11. Should any suspicious windows pop up, requesting additional personal information, or the response from your mobile device/computer equipment is unusually slow when using Private Banking Internet Banking service, log out your Private Banking Internet Banking account immediately and scan your mobile device/computer equipment with the most up-to-date anti-virus software.
  12. Do not provide your logon credential to unofficial CIBHK webpage and please contact CIBHK at 95561 (Mainland) or +852 6619 5561 (Hong Kong) immediately should you suspect that your Private Banking Internet Banking logon information has been deceived by a fraudulent website or email
  13. Once there is any update on your mobile phone number, email address, and correspondence address, please notify CIBHK so as to ensure you will receive CIBHK’s notifications from time to time.
Protect your mobile device/computer equipment
  1. Do not store any Internet Banking credentials on browser, mobile device or computer equipment.
  2. Disable "AutoFill" or "AutoComplete" in settings of browser, mobile device or computer equipment.
  3. Do not install software from unknown sources. Please only download software from official website or trusted sources.
  4. Install latest security update from publisher to ensure browser, software and operating system running without any weaknesses.
  5. Ensure the software and operating system of your browser, mobile device/ computer equipment are updated to have the bug fixed and latest security protection.
  6. Install anti-virus software and enable the automatic update of signature.
  7. Do not open any attachment from strange email or sender with suspicious email address.
  8. Do not use any "rooted" or "jailbreak" mobile device to use Internet Banking services.
  9. Enable screen lock on your mobile device/computer equipment.
  10. Setup a security PIN code or similar authentication check on your mobile device/computer equipment.
  11. Only install mobile application from official sources such as official website, App Store®.
